More Room to Create: Capricorn Framing's Next Chapter in Personalized Custom Framing

Every piece of artwork tells a different story.

Some celebrate a milestone. Others preserve family history. Some transform a room through bold contemporary design, while others capture memories that can't be replaced.

For more than 20 years, Capricorn Framing has helped clients throughout San Francisco turn those meaningful pieces into beautifully displayed works of art through thoughtful, personalized custom framing. Our approach has always been to listen first, design second, and build every frame with the care and craftsmanship each piece deserves.

We're excited to take the next step in that journey.

A New Custom Framing Production Studio in San Francisco

Capricorn Framing and our sister company, Walter Adams Framing, have opened a new purpose-built production studio designed to expand what's possible while preserving the personal experience that has defined both companies.

Although each brand continues serving clients with its own unique personality and design philosophy, we now share a collaborative production center where experienced craftspeople, specialized equipment, and decades of expertise come together to create exceptional personalized custom framing in San Francisco.

The new facility includes approximately 1,000 square feet of dedicated production space, supported by an additional 2,500 square feet for frame joining, material storage, and specialty fabrication. With 12-foot ceilings, expansive work tables, a computerized mat cutter, professional multi-material cutters, and dedicated areas for handling oversized artwork, the studio was designed to give every project the room it deserves.

For our clients, that means more creative possibilities.

Whether you're framing contemporary artwork, photography, sports memorabilia, family keepsakes, custom mirrors, shadowboxes, textiles, or oversized statement pieces, our team now has the flexibility to tackle projects that once required additional planning or workspace.

The expansion is especially exciting as we've seen increasing demand for larger artwork and personalized framing solutions that become focal points within modern homes and workplaces.

Staying Current with Interior Design Trends

Today's interiors are evolving.

Homeowners are embracing oversized artwork, carefully curated gallery walls, bold photography, and meaningful collections that deserve more than off-the-shelf frames. Interior designers continue creating spaces where custom framing plays a central role in tying an entire room together.

Our new production studio allows us to support those creative ideas with even greater confidence.

Large pieces can remain safely positioned throughout production. Multiple custom projects can move through the studio simultaneously while maintaining consistency and quality. Complex shadowboxes, oversized mirrors, textiles, memorabilia, and contemporary framing designs all benefit from dedicated workspace and improved production flow.

Personalized Custom Framing

What hasn't changed is the way we work with every client.

Every project still begins with a conversation.

We want to understand the artwork, the space where it will be displayed, the client's style, and the feeling they want the finished piece to create. From there, we guide clients through carefully selected mouldings, mat colors, glazing options, and design details that complement both the artwork and the surrounding environment.

Technology helps us deliver incredible precision, but the creative process remains deeply personal.

Our computerized equipment allows for intricate mat designs and exact measurements, while our experienced craftspeople ensure every frame is assembled, finished, and inspected by hand. It's the combination of modern technology and traditional craftsmanship that allows us to produce framing solutions that are both beautiful and built to last.

The expanded production studio also gives our team room to grow creatively.

Working alongside the talented craftsmen at Walter Adams Framing encourages collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continual refinement of our techniques. Every project becomes an opportunity to learn, improve, and push creative boundaries—all while maintaining the personalized service Capricorn Framing clients have always valued.

As a locally owned San Francisco business, we're encouraged by what we're seeing throughout our community.

People continue investing in original artwork. Families are preserving meaningful heirlooms. Designers are incorporating custom framing into more sophisticated residential and commercial projects. Rather than replacing handcrafted work, technology has increased appreciation for authentic craftsmanship and personalized design.

That's exactly the future we want to help create.

The new production studio gives us more room to design, collaborate, and solve unique framing challenges, but it doesn't change who we are.

We're still passionate about helping every client find the perfect presentation for the pieces they love most. We're still committed to archival framing, thoughtful design, and exceptional craftsmanship. And we're still inspired every day by the creativity our clients bring through our doors.

Our expanded studio simply gives us the ability to do even more of what we love.

Great custom framing isn't measured by the size of the building where it's created. It's measured by the care that goes into every finished piece—and the smile on a client's face when they see their artwork beautifully framed for the first time.

Some things should never change.
